Chen Jiyong: a native of Yingcheng City, Hubei Province, born in March 1953, a Member of the CPC, PhD in Economics, an experienced Professor and Supervisor of doctoral students.
Now, he is the Dean of the Economics and Management School of Wuhan University, Director of the Institute of American and Canadian Economic Studies, Director of the EMBA Education Centre at Wuhan University; he is also the former Vice President of Hubei University and the Dean of the Hubei Academy of Social Sciences.
His positions now include: Director of the International East Asia Association, President of the National American Economic Association, Vice President of the China World Economy Association, Vice President of the Senior Experts Association of Hubei Province, Vice Chairman of the Hubei Social Science Association, Executive Chairman of the Hubei Federation of Societies for Economic Studies, Member of the Hubei Consultation and Decision Making Committee, Member of the Wuhan Consultation and Decision Making Committee, and Counsellor of the Peoples’ Government of Wuhan Municipality.
He was awarded “Outstanding Excellent Youth in the Seventh Five-Year Plan” by the Hubei Youth Federation in 1991, and received special allowance from the State Council in 1993. He was awarded “Young and Middle-aged Experts with Outstanding Contribution” by the Government of Hubei Provincial Party Committee, and selected by the Trans-century Training Programme Foundation to be one of the First talented individuals of Philosophy and Social Science by the Ministry of Education in 1997. He was also selected among the “First-tier Personnel” in the Hubei New-century High-level Professional Project in 2003.
As the leader of world economy discipline at Wuhan University, a State-level key discipline, ,and a trans-century academic leader in Hubei Province, he has directed and been engaged in over 20 key projects of the international and national levels or from the Ministry of Education or provincial Party committee. His main research interests and teaching fields include world economics, (especially the American economy), international investment and international trade along with other areas.
